Nigeria to prioritize Blockchain and emerging tech, with plans for research center deployment.

The Nigerian government has plans to deploy entities across six geo-political zones to aid Nigerian startups in scaling product development using emerging technologies. Additionally, innovation sandboxes will be utilized to develop use cases and introduce these products to the market. The government also aims to equip three million Nigerians with the necessary skills by 2027 to support its initiatives.

Shitij Taneja, managing director of Vertex Next, organizer of the IoT West Africa conference, sees Nigeria as “Africa‚Äôs next Silicon Valley.” He emphasizes Nigeria’s large youth population and dynamic startup ecosystem, positioning it as a leading force in technology development. The conference aims to draw investors towards Nigerian startups, reflecting the country’s growing focus on emerging technologies.
