Yao Qian is currently under investigation by the Supervisory Committee of Shanwei City. The specific allegations against him have not been disclosed at this time. Qian had been instrumental in establishing the research lab for the central bank’s digital currency initiative from the beginning until he left the People’s Bank of China in 2018.
Following this, he moved to the China Securities Regulatory Commission in late 2019.
