Presidential debate could clarify approach to regulating cryptocurrencies

The presidential debate between incumbent Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump is anticipated to be a widely televised event this year. In a recent interview with crypto.news, Moe Vela, a senior advisor at Unicoin, mentioned that moderators may not ask crypto-related questions during the debate. However, he expects at least one candidate to address crypto in some capacity.

It was previously reported that Trump expressed the view that Bitcoin mining could serve as a countermeasure to proposed central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). Vela emphasized that regulators and governmental agencies often exhibit excessive oversight and can be obstructive to the crypto sector. He cautioned that regulators who deny and employ regulations to impede, discourage, dismantle, or obliterate a sector pose a risk.

As cryptocurrencies become more integrated into U.S. society, Vela stressed the importance of leaders striking a balance between supporting the sector and protecting consumers to foster innovation and investor freedom.
