Paris Match has announced an auction of historical photographs as NFTs, including images of famous personalities such as The Rolling Stones, Jack Nicholson, Orson Welles, and John Travolta. The starting bid for each photo is 0.3 ETH, approximately $1,062.
This initiative represents Paris Match’s second foray into the NFT space, following a successful sale of 120 unique NFTs in January 2023. The magazine has partnered with the photo NFT platform Focus Bloc and SuperRare for this auction.
The decision of Paris Match to embrace NFT technology and auction its iconic photographic archives showcases its commitment to preserving its cultural legacy while adapting to the digital era. In the cryptocurrency realm, experts anticipate a potential surge of 60% to 75% in Ethereum, driven by its early adoption in the NFT sector, strong developer support, and a comprehensive ecosystem tailored for NFT creation and trading.
However, Ethereum is now facing competition from emerging blockchains like Solana, Bitcoin, and Immutable X, which are gaining momentum as viable alternatives. Ethereum’s dominance in NFTs is underpinned by its established infrastructure and widespread recognition, whereas Solana stands out from other blockchains by offering lower gas fees and faster transaction speeds, positioning itself as a strong rival to Ethereum.
